Guiding principle

The Fraunhofer Center for Conservation and Energy Performance of Historic Buildings Benediktbeuern has taken on the task of renovating the Alte Schäfflerei in the Benediktbeuern Monastery as a demonstration object in the sense of a “Transparent Building Site” in accordance with historical building requirements and under energy-saving aspects. In this way, the center actively promotes the transfer of knowledge between heritage conservation, building practice, research and industry. The focus is on the study of historical monuments, old buildings worthy of protection and building physics.

The Fraunhofer Center Benediktbeuern is thus aimed at architects, engineers, planners, craftsmen, monument conservationists, energy consultants, real estate owners, local authorities and anyone else interested in the subject.

Our work is centered on the conviction that applied research makes an essential contribution to the preservation and continued existence of our historical monuments as well as of conventional buildings. By combining tradition and innovation, we develop new practical solutions that help to conserve historical monuments and old buildings in the long term.

In line with our guiding principles: Research, Demonstration, Knowledge & knowledge transfer.
